God's Condemnation Of False Teachers

24 April 2014

“Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.” (Jude 8-10)

This group is similar to the fallen angels but their actions are so ridiculous its like they a delusional and dream things for themselves that are not true. They think themselves above any authority including God’s design in government. Romans 13 clearly teaches that God has a good intent in His creation of government. These men speak evil of those who rule over them. This is perhaps one of the most egregious errors we have in America today. Our right to free speech does not give us the right to speak contrary to God’s will.

Jude is quoting from a non-canonical book call Enoch. This does not mean he has now made that spurious book to be equal with Scripture and to be seen as God’s word. Paul frequently quotes heathen poets in his discourses. This does not mean that those poets wrote Scripture. By Jude writing these words, this portion becomes Scripture in Jude’s letter not in the apocryphal book.

Jude also makes the point that these heretics are without excuse. They cannot say they did not know God’s will concerning these sins. Paul tells us plainly that there is an inborn knowledge in all men.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.” (Romans 1:18-19)

By “hold the truth,” Paul means that they know what God has instructed Him but they suppress that knowledge and reject it. The very things they know not to do, they corrupt themselves as wild animals.
