How Is Your Zeal

30 October 2014

"And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.” (Mark 2:1-4)

How is your zeal?

That is a funny question isn’t it? But consider it for a moment.

We claim to be zealous for the Lord and for good works but does our discipleship in any way compare to the “through the roof” zeal these men displayed?

They were unable to get their sick friend to Jesus because there was such a large cloud but that didn’t stop them. It seemed they had a desire to get to Jesus by any means necessary!

Zaccheus (Luke 19:1-10) had the same desire. He could not see Jesus because he was so short. He had to climb a tree. The woman with an issue of blood for twelve years (Mark 5:25-34) pushed through the crowd just to touch the hem of the garment of Jesus.

I think we should heed the words of the Apostle John when he wrote:

"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” (1st John 2:6)
How ever passionate we are about saying we are disciples of Christ, that same passion should be seen in our walk!
