What Manner Of Love

20 January 2015

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." (1 John 3:1-3)

This is an amazing concept to fully comprehend. John says that God calls us His sons right now!

Even though we're still living in a sin-cursed earth, we are still sons. Even though we sometimes fall into sin and stray from God, we are still sons. Even though there is still sickness and death inflicting pain in our lives, we are still sons.

We are sons because God makes us so. That is sovereign grace. No circumstances or events can change the FACT that we are secure in Christ.

An added blessing is that we already receive joy as sons of God. Just think about that. We can have amazing joy that is unspeakable even though we have not been made perfect yet. Just imagine what it will be like when our glory is finished!

God already views us through the blood of Christ. Therefore, He sees us as pure and holy. When we realize that Gid already sees us that way, it motivates us to actually live that way so that we can experience that joyful fellowship now.
