Romans 1:1 A Servant Of Jesus Christ

10 December 2016

“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,” (Romans 1:1)

Many people desire to have a prominent ministry or position in a church. But how many are willing to take on the duties of a servant? How many are willing to work without the recognition? How many are willing to suffer because of their labors?

Paul was an Apostle, but he reminds us that he was a servant of Jesus Christ first. This means he considered his will, desires, and prominence as unimportant.

Paul wasn’t concerned with building his personal ministry or making a name for himself. He just wanted to know more about Who Jesus was and what Jesus would have him to do with his life!

This is why Paul was such an effective Apostle. He fulfilled his duties as an Apostle be working in the role of a servant.

If we desire to be profitable in the hands of God, we need to adopt the same attitude that Paul had. We need to begin by considering ourselves as servants to everyone else. We need to seek to do the will of God and not our own. We need to continually seek to take the focus off of ourselves and point others to Jesus through the gospel of God.
