“Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” 1st Thessalonians 5:14-15

This passage reminds us that every church member has some responsibilities to other members of the Body of Christ. These duties typically are carried out by the pastor and possibly the deacons, but God has designed that ALL church members care for all other members.

It is the responsibility of every church member to encourage and admonish other church members as we work together to improve our discipleship. If someone is not honoring God in their walk, we should lovingly remind them of their thankful responsibility to God for His great love.

Every member should also be available to help those who have suffered loss or are deeply discouraged. We should be ready to lead them back to the cross and the hope they have in Christ Jesus.

In helping others in our church, we should be patient, loving, and kind. There are times where Paul instructs a much more harsh coarse of discipline but we can see here that we should always be working to restore our brethren in love.

All of this obviously requires ACTIVE church membership which includes fellowship outside of regular worship times and lots of prayer.
